Basic aromatherapy

Basic aromatherapy
Using essential oils - aromatherapy - is effective, easy and enjoyable. I believe that it is worthwhile and desirable for every home to use it .
There is a wide variety of essential oils, cheaper and less expensive, more common and less common, and you don't have to start with expensive and hard-to-get ones to get started.
In this series of tips for home preparation, I will focus on those vegetable oils and essential extracts that are more available and cheaper. In any case, emphasis should always be placed on and not compromise on the quality of the raw material .
- Some essential oils have warnings and restrictions (such as use only in a diluted state, not for use by pregnant women or children, etc.), so you should always read the warnings, and in any case, all suggestions presented here on the site are recommendations only, and you should contact an expert aromatherapist to deepen your knowledge and answer any questions .
How and where to use it
With few exceptions, aromatic essences should be diluted before coming into contact with the skin because they are so potent.
  • External application - for massage, a substitute for moisturizer or targeted application for skin treatment.
To apply essential oils to the skin, they must be diluted in a carrier oil - a base oil.
A base oil can be olive oil, coconut oil, or any other natural, high-quality oil available to you.
We usually prefer almond oil because it doesn't have a strong odor, is easily absorbed, and has many benefits for the skin.
It is worth choosing a high-quality, cold-pressed base oil and transferring it to a glass bottle in which we will add the essential oils.
To a 50 ml bottle of carrier oil, you can add between 20-60 drops in total of one essential oil or a combination of several oils.
This means that the total essential oils will be between 2% and 6%, depending on the desired strength.
If the oil is intended for a large area of the skin, such as a massage oil intended for the entire body, it is best to add a low dilution of 2%.
If the oil is intended for topical treatment, such as applying to the foot to treat fungus, it is worth increasing the ratio and putting 6% of essential oils in the carrier oil.
  • In the bathroom
You can add a few drops of essential oil to create wonderful moments of relaxation and inner connection. It can be for us and it can be a great addition to the children's bath.
Again, because of the strength of the extracts, care should be taken to add very little.
The best way is to add 3-4 drops to a tablespoon of carrier oil (almond, olive, etc.) and add this to the bath.
Diluting with a carrier oil first prevents the essences from clumping on the surface of the water. Such clumping can cause skin irritation.
If you don't want to add a tablespoon of oil, then before getting into the bath, it's a good idea to shake the water to prevent the essences from pooling on the surface of the water.
  • burner
A burner is a great way to create atmosphere in your home using essential oils and purify the air.
You can create a relaxing atmosphere with lavender, an atmosphere of introspection and concentration with frankincense, or lightness and energy with orange...
The oils disinfect the air and raise the frequency.
It is a good idea to put a little water in the burner saucer with between 5-10 drops of essential oils, and light the candle underneath.
Make sure there is always water in the saucer so that the essences do not burn from the heat of the candle.
  • Additional uses
There are so many options for using aromatherapy.
You can make an aromatic spray for your home, add some treatment to cleaning fluid, treat a variety of health issues, or prepare a variety of skincare products.
It's best to start slowly, do what's easy and what you feel comfortable with, and only then move on with curiosity, to the next use.
